Illegal immigration is the latest popular nemesis with countless ships sinking off Europe’s coasts. The culprits, mainly young people but also women and children, have a notoriety which outweighs their odds of survival. What causes this phenomenon? What are the reactions to this tragedy? Where does responsibility lie? How can we put an end to this? What role could Europe play in finding solutions? Below, I try to answer these many questions with my understanding, my sensitivity and my research.
